Passiflora Incarnata “Passionflower”
Alicia in her garden with handcrafted, flower-pounded scarf
Alicia Cardina is a botanical artist and teacher located in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. She has always lived close to nature and is deeply connected to the healing power of trees and plants. As a child, Alicia would often be found creating art and altars using natural materials.
She not only values the aesthetic pleasure in creating botanical art, but also upholds the research-based evidence that working with natural elements is therapeutic and beneficial for our wellbeing. In this era of technology and stimulation overwhelm, Alicia brings a calm to the chaos through her nature-based practices.
Alicia makes her own medicinal tinctures, salves, and flower essences and devotes great time and energy to connecting with her land and gardens. She finds tremendous sources of awe and gratitude through slowing down and being fully present with our natural environment.
Her passion for learning about native species combined with her creative energy results in Passiflora Creative's offerings. She holds a Master of Education, a certification in Guided Forest Therapy, and training in Flower Essence Therapy.
When not spending time in her garden or designing botanical art, Alicia teaches educators around the country the Responsive Classroom Approach and coaches children in executive function skills. She previously taught in elementary schools in the US Virgin Islands, Guatemala, and Asheville, NC.
Alicia invites you to deepen your relationship with nature through creativity, beauty, and presence with the Earth.
